El-Maayergi confirmed that Egypt has already joined the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), with several Egyptian banks already approved by the Central Bank of Egypt to participate, and more expected to follow.
Elombi said the bank expects more than 4,000 delegates to participate in its 33rd annual meetings, scheduled to be held in Egypt’s Al- Alamein City from June 19 to 24, 2026.
Abdalla noted that Egypt is one of the founding members of the bank, hosts its headquarters, and ranks among its largest shareholders through the Central Bank of Egypt.
The forum is scheduled to take place from July 29–31, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort, Casino & Spa in the capital, Basseterre.
The conflict, impacting global oil, LNG, and fertilizer markets as well as key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, has severely affected African and CARICOM countries reliant on imports, while disrupting investment, tourism, and remittance flows.
